The Barco Loki alluring image quality is unmistakable, right from the very first encounter. Striking and assertive, his soul is a dual laser light engine, coupled with award-winning DLP technology and world-class optics.
Barco specialises in high-performance projections systems that offer ultra-high quality image reproduction for home cinema right through to commercial picture theatres. In fact, Barco is used by two of Hollywood’s biggest movie producers for their personal home cinemas, Michael Bay (producer of Transformers) and Jerry Bruckheimer (producer of Pirates of the Caribbean).
Professional grade optics
By basing Loki CinemaScope on a proven optical architecture, custom-designed aspherical glass elements and enhanced low dispersion glass lenses, image quality is in a class of its own. Contrast is not only increased, but the details within the darkest parts of the image are more visible.
State of the art electronics
Thanks to our unique single-step processing technology (SSPTM), Pulse electronics are designed to process 4K UHD, HDMI 2.0a, HDCP 2.2 and HDR10 signals with extremely low latency.
Loki uses the very latest 0.9″ DMD DLP chipset, to display flawless 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160 px)(16:9 version) images on the screen.
Our unique aspect ratio detection system automatically crops and scales content to fit the appropriate screen area, ranging from 1.78:1 to 2.39:1.
Manual cropping is also available for custom configurations such as cinemascope subtitle support, where only the top black bar is removed from none 1.78:1 content, preserving the subtitles at the foot of the image.
Laser light source
Outstanding image quality requires an exceptional light source, which is why Loki Cinemascope uses Barco’s brand-new dual-laser engine.
Alongside significantly improved image uniformity, lasers last longer than traditional projector lamps offer great image quality consistency over their lifetime, are less fragile and offer near-instant on/off performance.
Loki Cinemascope has departed from a pure fan-based cooling system, opting instead for a liquid cooling PID regulation system. This combined with our simulation grade warp engine allows Balder to operate at any angle (free rotation), offering new possibilities when it comes to architectural integration.
