Using Barco’s renowned Pulse electronic and software platform, The Barco Bragi is powered by a revolutionary, new, high lumens density (HLD) RGB LED light engine. Bragi takes its name from a historical ninth-century poet. His poems were so outstandingly artful and moving that subsequent generations imagined that, upon his death, Odin had appointed him the court poet of Valhalla. Bragi, being Balder’s brother and inherits the same design philosophy, optical core and lenses.
The Barco Bragi Features:
state of the art electronics
Our Pulse electronics are built on a superior FPGA platform featuring a dual-core processor on the industry’s only 20 nm SoChave, with 96 transceiver lanes delivering 3.3Tbps of serial bandwidth.
Thanks to our unique single-step processing technology(SSPTM), Pulse electronics are designed to process 4K UHD, HDMI 2.0a, HDCP 2.2 and HDR10 signals with extremely low latency.
Bragi uses the very latest 0.9″ DMD DLP chipset, to display flawless 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160 px) (16:9 version) images.
CinemaScope Version
Bragi CS has a unique automatic aspect ratio detection function. It will look for 2.40:1 content and automatically scale the image to fit the 5120×2160 resolution and of course change back to 16:9 (3840×2160) if you have content in that format. It will also change the aspect ratio when a 2.40:1 format movie has a menu’s outside the active picture frame. You can also switch manually between the different formats.
LED Engine
Bragi uses a new optical engine, incorporating the best elements from previous models and combining them with new technologies, creating an even better optical engine.
Bragi’s optical engine is not the only part that is redesigned, the light source is brand new, and this time it’s not the laser. The light source uses the very latest high lumens density (HLD), LED illumination technology.
HLD LED is unique in that it works around the ‘law of etendue’ (a property of light in an optical system, which characterizes how “spread out” the light is in area and angle…) to deliver a superb colour experience and incredible brightness while enabling new levels of resolution.
RealColor
Combining HLD LED illumination with regular LED colours which appear more saturated, the human eye is tricked to interpret this as richer, brighter colours than they are physically measured. Bragi also includes a motorized DCI/P3 filter for improved HDR colour accuracy.
Additionally, Barco’s RealColor processing enables simple and accurate calibration to your desired colour gamut or white point.
